An inter war period SMLE MKIII* .303 rifle. Manufactured by BSA in 1929. Very few were produced during this period. The British War Department were looking at new and different designs of rifles to replace the SMLE, eventually settling for the No4. However, the No4 didn't go into full production until 1941 and with the outbreak of WWII all available and serviceable SMLE's were put into service. This is example has lovely wood work with matching numbers to receiver, barrel, rear sight and nose cap. It comes fitted with a British canvas sling. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
