A beautiful condition WWII Remington made US Springfield M1903A4 Sniper Rifle fitted with M82 scope. Second World War sniper serial numbers for 1943 for this batch of rifles are from 4992001-4997045. This rife being number 4993534 and dated August 1943 (8'43) on the barrel. The stock bears the correct US inspectors proof stamps and carcouches,  FJA Frank J Atwood and  RIA Rock Island Arsenal. The foresight was removed as it interfered with scopes sight. Fitted with the correct M82 scope with good clear optics, they were issued to American marksman/sharp shooters in various US regiments and companies. Most famously used by Private Daniel Jackson in the WWII epic "Saving Private Ryan". These rifles are seldom seen in the UK, live or deactivated, as the vast majority returned home with the US after the war ended. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
