Product Information

This is a very unusual First World War Kar98 marked K98. After WWI had ended large amounts of serviceable weapons were reworked for the Nazi's and also for overseas contracts as a source of income for arms manufacturers. However, this carbines has a lack of markings and the markings that are present are somewhat unusually. The date and makers stamp normally found on the top of the receiver have been removed as have the imperial German army proof stamps. Also where it was originally stamped "KAR98" it is now marked "K98". The sling hoop attachments are also very unusual and not normally found on this type of carbine. If it was part of an overseas foreign contract it would be marked accordingly, but due to the lack of markings it seems only obvious that it was most likely a rework for WWII. Another factor is the lack of ownership markings, i.e. Waffenamts stamps, this would suggest it was issued to the Waffen SS. The dull blued finish is also indicative of SS issued weapons. Certainly worthy of some further research. It still retains many matched parts with their original Imperial acceptance stamps and has the correct turned down bolt. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
