A late Second World War Nazi K98 manufactured by Waffenwerke Brunn AG. This is the name that Germany gave the small arms factory at Bystrica Czechoslovakia, located in the former Austro-Hungarian territory of Slovakiaserial. This late war K98 was made during the final months before the factory fell into Allied control. K98s in the serial number range of “S" begin to display “Kreigsmodell” features. Production was simplified in an attempt in to increase output and they display far less Waffen acceptance stamps and numbered parts. DOU coded K98s were marked with WaA80 and with the year stamp 44 (1944). This example is clearly marked to army (capital H - Heer). Many of these carbines were used by the Volksstrum (Peoples Militia) or Germany's version of the British Home Guard. Hitler's last ditch war effort, arming the people to defend Germany against Allied forces, as they advanced towards Berlin. This example has no Russian capture markings.  Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
