This is rare Vietnam War Issue US military contract Ithaca Model 37 12 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun or Trench gun. Serial number S12217 is from of batch of around 22500 the US military contracted Ithaca to produce in 1962 for the US Vietnam War effort. The second serial number 56818 on the receiver either refers to the weapons number, although it does fall into the correct range used on 1942 dated Model 37s. Worthy of some further research. Correctly fitted with wooden stock and butt plate, US stamp on receiver and letter P on receiver and barrel, and sling swivels. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
