Rarely seen, a US Colt Detective Special .38 snub nose revolver. First introduced in 1927, during the "roaring 20s", as the name suggests they were primarily marketed at the US plain clothes police detectives. It was a hugely success and very popular revolver for Colt, and for the next 50 years was the preferred revolver carried by US police detectives, undercover officers, and off duty policemen. The short barrel making it ideally suited as a back-up or concealment weapon. This example dates to 1957 and is still in excellent original condition with it factory finish and Colt logo wooden grips. Very hard to find in this spec it was deactivated to old specifications and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
