Rarely seen in the UK, an American made single shot percussion "boot" pistol. Circa 1850s-1860s (US Civil War era). No obvious makers mark as such but presumable this is number 74 of a possible 100 made. During this period in America there were many small gunsmiths producing this type of hand made pistol. During the US Civil war both sides used these ideally suited pistols as a back-up weapon hiding them in their boots. This example has Walnut grips with light engraving. It has a full working action. Being of an antique obsolete calibre it can be owned live without any form of license .
