Product Information

Rare Robert Adams .32 Percussion revolver, circa 1857. Often referred to as a "Beaumont Adams" , this revolver was part of a shipment that was supplied to Francis Tomes & Son, New York who were an agent that imported British manufactured goods and exported cotton from the United States to England. It is well documented that Tomes sold large quantities of revolvers and weaponry, include this type of Adams revolver to Thaddeus Hyatt who was strongly opposed to slavery in the US and wanted it abolished. Hyatt became actively involved in the abolitionist movement after Congress passed the Kansas Nebraska Act 1854. This eventually lead to the violently clashed in what became known as Bleeding Kansas. These revolvers were then known to have been used during the US Civil War (1861 to 1865). Incredibly this revolver has remained intact and is completely original and still retains much of its factory finish with a lovely patina and unblemished wooden grips. The serial number 24248R appears on frame and cylinders with the British proof house stamps on barrel chambers. The action is in good working order and fires off both single and double actions. This rare and historic revolver is of an obsolete calibre and can therefore be owned live without any form of license. It can be fully stripped, cock and dry.
