A superb looking WWII German army issued Mauser K98. This is an early example from that years production. The S/42 code was change that year to "42", it also saw the introduction the straight winged Nazi eagles rather than the earlier down-turned wing eagles. This example has some very crisp and clear markings and has the “H” , an abbreviation for the Army just below the first Eagle on the butt stock. The known serial number range is from these early S/42 coded carbines is 67 to 5968I with an estimated production run of 100,000 rifles which were issued amongst the German army, Navy and Airforces. This K98 may well have been used during the invasion of Norway in 1940, it was definitely there at the end of war. Norway was of huge strategic importance to Germany. After Germany had surrendered the Nords used these captured weapons to arm its own forces. This one is marked to the Norwegian army (HÆR = Army Land Forces). Chambered in .30.06. it has a mint bore! An FAC with the correct variation is required to purchase this rifle. Can be deactivated to order.
