A superb early First World War, Simsom & Co. Suhl manufactured German Gew98 rifle bayonet and scabbard. Dated 1914 it has the early high ears on the cross guard. All parts are carry imperial acceptance stamps. Both bayonet and scabbard are untouched and completely original. The unusual positioning of the numbers 11 maybe a unit or regiment mark.
