M1854 Lorenz rifle socket bayonet. It has a distinctive flattened cruciform blade. This example is regimentally marked the Austrian regiment, "8L St 109" = 8th Landsturm Battalion, No 109. It will was also used with the M1854/67 Wanzl breech loading conversion rifles. The Lorenz rifle and bayonets were imported by both sides during the U.S. Civil War.
