An unissued British No7 MK1/L  Bayonet & Scabbard. The letter "L" denotes Land Service. Only produced from 1944-48, they were issued to selective units to equip the No.4 rifle and the Sten MkV(5) Machine gun. This one has several broad arrow acceptance stamps and has the makers code M48A, Birmingham Small Arms, Small Heath Plant . Interestingly the L appears to be badly struck and looks more like a 7.  This bayonet shows no evidence of being fitted to a rifle. The internal barrel socket is unmarked with the overall finish completely original and free from scratches. The No7 was an immediate success and popular with the troops with the ability to be used as a bayonet or fighting knife.
