This is a WWI British 4inch Naval Shell Case. Dated 1918 it bears the letter N indentifing it as a Royal Navy issued shell case with Broad Arrow acceptance. The shell was used in the 4 inch MKV navy gun which was used on cruisers, destroyers and heavier ships throughout WWI and into WWII, and also used as an anti aircraft gun. The fuse is dated July 1918 and was made V.S.M. = Vickers Sons and Maxim. The shell case stand 67.5cm high.
