WWII Dated German Artillery Rangefinder optics manufactured by Saalfelder Apparatebau GmbH under secret code fwq, dated 1943. They were used by artillery or anti-aircraft guns to effectively and accurately estimate ranges to the target. This was critical to the success of a direct hit on the target. Well trained gun crews would rely on the skills of rangefinder personnel to calculate these distances and trajectories before firing. This particular pair are in good working order. They have been repainted sometime after the war in the correct colours. This was most likely done by the country who's ownership the fell into. As with all German optical devises the quality is second to none. They are beautifully engineered and still work, and would be an excellent display centre piece.
