This is a rare British manufactured Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver chambered in .36. Colt, London produced this model from 1853 to 1857 only managing to make 42,000. Serial numbers ran from 1 to 42,000. This example dates to 1855. These revolvers bear British proof stamps (crown over CP & crown over V ) and have the barrel address of ; ADDRESS COL. COLT.LONDON. This example is all matching numbers and is from one of the very last batches ever made. The model 1851 was a popular private purchase by British officers during this period and were used by them during the Crimean War. They were also purchased by the British Police, Armies & Navies. Small quantities within the build were custom orders. They were also used in America during the US Civil War. This example has a very unusual loading rod catch.

A rarely seen British made Colt.

Chambered in an antique obsolete calibre it can be owned live without any form of license. It has a good condition bore and full working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
