Product Information

A superb original US made Colt 1860 Army six shot percussion revolver, chambered in .44. All matching numbers with the correct inspectors initial "D" struck on all visible parts. It has an eight inch blued barrel with the Colt New York address. The cylinders are engraved with the Naval battle scene between the Texas and Mexican navies. The frame and hammer are case hardened with a Nickel plated trigger guard and blued steel back strap. Fitted with American Walnut grips. The action is exceptional! Its tight, crisp and indexes perfectly every time. A real collectors piece. The model 1860 was most famously used by both sides during the US Civil war (1861-1865) and was the preferred sidearm by infantry and cavalry units. The serial number of this revolver dates to 1863 production. The vast majority of that years production was purchased by the US Government.

Of considerable interest; In total, from 1861 to 1863 the US Government ordered around 127,157 1860 Army .44 revolvers which were delivered before the 1864 fire that put the Colt factory out of business for the rest of the Civil War.

Chambered in an antique obsolete calibre it can be owned live without any form of license.
