Deactivated WWII US M1 Carbine

This is a WWII US manufactured M1 Carbine made by Inland Division General Motors. Dating to July 1944 it was made just a month after the D-Day landings and would have been shipped to Europe and issued to US forces. The woodwork is numbered to the rifle and has what appears to be rack, inventory or weapon number stenciled on it in white paint. The magazine containing inert .30 rounds and the rifle is fitted with a sling and oil bottle. One of the classic US infantrymans rifles of the Second World War.
