This is an early 1941 production Walther made P38 pistol. That year Walther produced 110,000 P38s with this example being from a batch of 10,000 completed in May 1941. All visble parts are correctly stamped with Waffen acceptance Eagle over 359 and it has matching numbers to frame, barrel and slide. The P38 was produced as a direct replacement for the aging PO8 Luger and was initially issued to officers and ranked officials before filtering down to NCOs and soldiers.
